Amazon Founder, Jeff Bezos, Announces Donation for Expanding Montessori Education
“Mr. Bezos said the new education effort would build and run a national nonprofit network of free Montessori-inspired preschools.
“I’m excited about that because it will give us the opportunity to learn, invent, and improve,” he wrote. “We’ll use the same set of principles that have driven Amazon. Most important among those will be genuine, intense customer obsession. The child will be the customer.” Mr. Bezos went to Montessori schools and has said it developed his sense of exploration and focus.”
New Montessori Research Center at the University of Kansas
America’s first dedicated center for Montessori research has just been launched at The University of Kansas, led by AMS senior researcher, Dr. Angela Murray, and advised by AMS executive director, Dr. Tim Purnell. This center was achieved through AMS’s decade-long commitment to research that illustrates the efficacy of Dr. Montessori’s pedagogy. We are excited about the potential that AMS and KU’s research efforts have for proliferating Montessori education in our schools.
